Tuesday, November 10, 2009
4:30pm- 6:30pm
San Diego Supercomputer Center
Training Room 279
University of California, San Diego

Workshop Overview

This workshop is designed for those somewhat familiar with Microsoft Excel who have created their own basic worksheets in Excel 2003 but who would like to get started with Excel 2007 and tackle its new features.

Experience Microsoft Excel 2007 and learn to create meaningful spreadsheets that can be used to analyze, communicate and manage your classroom information. This instructor lead, hands-on course provides a
combination of lecture and hands-on learning designed to provide you with practical skills that can be easily used in the classroom. Understand how to get the most out of the new MS Excel 2007 environment. Learn the
new Ribbon user interface with contextual tabs and Quick Access Toolbar. Topics include: creating, editing, formatting and saving a worksheet, applying formulae, functions, importing and exporting data, and consolidating data in multiple worksheets. Make use of templates and styles. Learn techniques and shortcuts to make accessing your
classroom data as easy as 1-2-3.

Workshop Goals

- Understanding the new look of Excel 2007

- Find everyday commands on the Ribbon

- Cut, Copy, Paste, Insert Sheet Rows, Insert Sheet Columns and Sum

- New and easy ways to use the keyboard shortcuts

- Save workbooks in the new Excel file format

- Create a new workbook

- Enter text and numbers

- Insert and delete columns and rows

Due to an overwhelming number of changes in the new Excel 2007’s interface, an Interactive reference guide was developed by Microsoft Office to make the transition between Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 easier for existing users. The guide gives a step-by-step instruction on where to find a menu or button’s new location in Excel 2007. This Quick Reference card will be given to all attendees.

Please join us for an exciting and informative hands-on workshop presented by Allie Casarda,
San Diego City College.
